Tell us what's happening and which app you're using — the one on your parent's iPad, or the family app on your phone. If something looks wrong on screen, a photo of it helps enormously.
Getting started
Idyll is two apps that work together. Idyll Pad goes on your parent's iPad. Idyll Caregiver goes on your phone, and that's where you set everything up.
- Install Idyll Caregiver on your phone and sign in with your mobile number — we text you a code, so there's no password to remember.
- Install Idyll Pad on your parent's iPad. It shows a four-digit code.
- Type that code into your phone. That's the whole connection.
You do the setup; your parent doesn't have to do anything at all.
Common questions
My parent's iPad keeps going to sleep. Open the iPad's Settings, choose Display & Brightness, then Auto-Lock, and set it to Never. Idyll is designed to stay awake and ready on a stand.
Do they need to answer calls? No. Calls from the people you choose answer themselves, so you can be face to face in a few seconds even if they never touch the screen.
Can I use an iPad they already own? Yes — that's the idea. There's no gadget to buy and nothing gets locked down. It stays their iPad.
How much does it cost, and who pays? $29.99 a month per iPad, started on the iPad itself. The family app is free for everyone — brothers, sisters, grandchildren, friends. You pay once per parent, not once per person.
What if we stop paying? Your parent's tablet is never locked or taken away. A lapsed plan only pauses managing their tablet from your phone; messages, calls and check-ins keep working.
Is the companion a real person? No, and she says so plainly if asked. She's an AI companion. She is not a doctor or a nurse, and she is not an emergency service — in an emergency, call 911.
How do I delete our account and data? In the family app: Manage, then Account, then Delete account. Removing your own account never deletes your parent's photos, books, or the things the companion has learned about them.
Something's broken
Email us with what happened and roughly when. The apps keep a small diagnostic log, so a rough time is often enough for us to find the exact problem without you having to reproduce it.
